Abstract

Complementary and alternative therapy methods are widely used in health care to improve patients’ quality of life, reduce symptoms, and support holistic well-being. These therapies are classified into five main groups: mind–body–based practices, biologically based approaches, manipulative and body-based approaches, alternative medical systems, and energy therapies. Among these, energy therapies are particularly effective in reducing stress, anxiety, and pain levels in patients within nursing care, while supporting both psychological and physical well-being, and are used as a complementary component of patient-centered and holistic care. Energy therapies, such as Reiki, Healing Touch, and Therapeutic Touch, support physical and psychological well-being by balancing the body’s energy fields and are widely used in nursing care. These therapies are effective in reducing patients’ stress, anxiety, and pain levels, promoting relaxation, and improving quality of life, thereby playing a significant complementary role in holistic and patient-centered nursing care. Energy therapies enable nurses to focus not only on physical symptoms but also on patients’ psychological and emotional well-being, making the care process more individualized and comprehensive. Overall, energy therapies play a complementary role in supporting holistic and patient-centered approaches in nursing care, and their use is of great importance in enhancing patients’ physical, psychological, and emotional well-being through individualized care practices.
