Abstract

In terms of occupational health and safety, the health sector is in the status of heavy and dangerous work; It is one of the areas where there is a high probability of problems in working areas. Due to the fact that the health sector is directly related to human life, as well as the fact that the service provider and the field is human, various occupational accidents occur due to the nature of the work. Employees may suffer mental, physical, material and moral harm as a result of work accidents. Occupational accidents cause the families and institutions to be affected as well as the problems experienced by the individual exposed to the incident. From the perspective of the individual; He/she has difficulties in fulfilling his role in the family and cannot offer the same efficiency when he returns to working life. From the point of view of the institution, the work flow will stop, productivity will decrease and there will be a shortage of qualified personnel.

Due to the nature of the service provided in the health sector, nurses are exposed to musculoskeletal injuries. Its etiology is multifactorial and usually originates from the working environment. Etiologies of musculoskeletal injuries are high number of shifts, standing for a long time, lack of carrying techniques, insufficient coworkers, advanced age, chronic diseases. Mallet finger, one of the diseases of the musculoskeletal system, is a distal inter-phalangeal joint deformity characterized by the flexion posture of the distal phalanx as a result of loss of extensor system continuity. In our case report, a case of hammer toe deformity due to work life was presented and the relevant literature was compiled.
